Rob is an M&A specialist, with a strong track record from over 22 years' experience advising major global companies and governments, with particular focus on the Utilities and Natural Resources sectors.

He has extensive experience in providing strategic and tactical advice to clients engaged in complex negotiations, conducting competitive trade sale auctions and leading comprehensive buy-side negotiations and due diligence, with a particular focus on cross-border private treaty transactions.

Prior to founding Orion in 2006, Rob was an Executive Director in Mergers and Acquisitions with ANZ Investment Bank, where he was Global Head of M&A in the Utilities and Infrastructure sectors and Global Co-Head of M&A in the Natural Resources sector.

Rob was also previously Head of JPMorgan’s Australian Power and Natural Resources Investment Banking Team, based in Sydney. Prior to joining JPMorgan, he was a member of corporate finance teams at Warburg Dillon Read (now UBS) and Macquarie Bank, both based in Melbourne.

Rob is a qualified lawyer and holds both a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from Monash University and has studied applied mathematics at RMIT on a ‘not for degree’ basis.

During his career, Rob has advised on more than 30 transactions with an aggregate value exceeding A$16 billion.
